Charles Mix County Man Indicted in Vehicular Homicide Case


PIERRE, S.D  - Attorney General Marty Jackley and Charles Mix County States Attorney Thomas Deadrick announced today that Ronald Ray Fischer, 29, Lake Andes, has been indicted by a Charles Mix County Grand Jury. Fischer was indicted on two counts of first degree manslaughter, class C felony, each carrying a maximum sentence life imprisonment and/or $50,000 fine, two counts of vehicular homicide, class 3 felony, each carrying a maximum sentence of fifteen years imprisonment and/or $30,000 fine, one count of driving or control of vehicle with alcohol blood or while under the influence of alcohol or drug, class 1 misdemeanor and one count of ingesting non-alcoholic substance to become intoxicated, class 1 misdemeanor. 

Charges stem from an incident that involved a vehicle crash that resulted in the deaths of two U.S. Fish and Wildlife employees who were working in the Pickstown area on July 8, 2013.

Fischer is presumed innocent until such time as proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
