Iowa Man Arrested for Burglary, Arson and Intentional Damage to Property

 


PIERRE, S.D  - Scott Allen Hughes, 32, Akron, IA was arrested on one count of burglary, class 2 felony, maximum sentence of twenty-five years imprisonment and/or $50,000 fine, one count of first degree arson, class 2 felony, maximum sentence of twenty-five years imprisonment and/or $50,000 fine, one count of aggravated intentional damage to property, class 3 felony, maximum sentence of fifteen years and/or $30,000 fine and one count of first degree intentional damage to property, class 4 felony, maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment and/or $25,000 fine.

Charges stem from multiple incidents that occurred over the past 6 weeks in Clay and Union counties.

Hughes is innocent until such time as proven guilty.

The case remains under investigation. Agencies that have assisted in this investigation include the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Vermillion Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
