Search Warrant Affidavits Unsealed in 1971 Union County Cold Case

PIERRE, S.D  –  Attorney General Marty Jackley releases the search warrant documentation redacted pursuant to the Court’s Order to Unseal Affidavits in Support of Request for Search Warrant.  This documentation was part of the court file in connection with 1971 Missing Persons Case in Union County of Pamela Jackson and Cheryl Miller. Attorney General Jackley has closed the investigation based on the September 23, 2013, discovery of the vehicle, the remains, and forensic evidence.

“The search warrant contains serious allegations involving 9 separate victims and a further look at why law enforcement should have been searching for two missing girls.  The release of this information neither changes my apology for the disruption caused to the Lykken family during the 2004 search, nor my position that the search was supported by the information known at that time.  It is my hope that all families including these 9 victims, the Jackson, the Millers and the Lykkens can find some peace with the closure of this cold case,” said Jackley.
