Inmate Sentenced in Aggravated Assault Case

 
PIERRE, S.D –   Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that Amada N. Portillo, 23, inmate at South Dakota Women’s Prison, has been sentenced to 10 years for aggravated assault. Portillo, who is currently serving a sentence for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, pled guilty in August to one count of aggravated assault. The charges stemmed from Portillo attacking another inmate by punching, kicking and stomping the inmate in the head numerous times. The 10 year sentence will run consecutively to her prior sentence.
 
Portillo’s prosecution was handled by the Attorney General’s Office.
