Joint Law Enforcement Investigation Leads to Seizure of Heroin and Methamphetamine


PIERRE, S.D. - Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that a joint law enforcement investigation has lead to the seizure of 2 pounds of Black Tar Heroin and 5 pounds of Crystal Methamphetamine.

“Meth and Heroin are tearing apart families and communities.  South Dakota is fighting back the Meth and Heroin epidemic with strong enforcement efforts and moving forward on an education program focused on protecting our youth,” said Attorney General Jackley.
 
On July 11th, 2016, a joint law enforcement operation seized approximately 2 pounds of Black Tar Heroin from a 19 year-old male subject who was living in the Brookings area. Subsequent investigative leads led to the seizure of approximately 5 pounds of Crystal Methamphetamine on July 13, 2016, in Brookings.  The joint operation was conducted by the Brookings Police Department, Brookings County Sheriff’s Department, Watertown Police Department, and the SD Division of Criminal Investigation.  Charges for the narcotics offenses are pending.
 
Estimated street value was over $500,000.
