AG Office to Review Officer Involved Shooting in Sioux Falls

PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that the Division of Criminal Investigation, at the request of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating the officer involved shooting that occurred Saturday, September 23, 2017, at approximately 1:30 am  (CDT).  The incident occurred at 6200 N. Cliff Avenue #153, Sioux Falls.  The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to service at that location.  The situation escalated resulting in an Officer firing his duty weapon at the subject.  The male subject has been identified as Christopher Scott Sanftleben, 46, of Sioux Falls.
At the completion of the investigation, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation will issue a case report and shooting summation to be reviewed by the Attorney General for a final determination on the officer’s action. The release of the summary is anticipated within 30 days.
