PIERRE, S.D.-     Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $25,000 for Audio Visual Recording Equipment to be installed in the new Hughes County Jail, which is near completion. The money was awarded out of the Drug Control Fund.  The award will assist local law enforcement in drug control and apprehension purposes, but will also assist in other types of crimes as well.

“We are very thankful for this award.  It will assist us in having appropriate recording equipment to assist in all types of investigations,” said Sheriff Mike Leidholt. “Past experience has shown that properly recording jail interviews can have an important part of a successful prosecution in major cases.”
