Attorney General Jackley Encourages South Dakotans to Remember Victims of Crime this Week

PIERRE, S.D.-   Attorney General Marty Jackley recognizes the week of April 18-24, 2010, as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW). This year’s theme, "Crime Victims’ Rights: Fairness. Dignity. Respect." reminds us of the core rights that all crime victims want and deserve – the right to be treated fairly and with dignity and respect. This commemorative week has been set aside since 1981 to honor crime victims and the advocates, counselors, and others who assist victims in their time of need, and the law enforcement personnel who work to bring offenders to justice.

The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) helps lead communities throughout the Nation to promote victims’ rights and honor crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf.
