North Dakota Man Sentenced in Fraud Case

North Dakota Man Sentenced in Fraud Case

 

PIERRE, S.D.  –Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that Dennis Lee Burton, 63, West Fargo, North Dakota, was sentenced to serve 8 ½ years with 3 years suspended on one count of grand theft by deception, a class 4 felony and 21 months for failure to pay sales tax, a class 6 felony. These sentences will run concurrent.
Charges stemmed from Burton’s sale of steel buildings, collecting down payments and then failing to deliver the products. Burton was also ordered to pay $139,285 in restitution to the victims and $8,321 to the State for the sales tax violations.
This case was investigated by the Department of Revenue and the Division of Criminal Investigation and was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
