Investigation into Davison County Infant Death Concluded

PIERRE, S.D  -  Attorney General Marty Jackley and Davison County States Attorney Pat Smith announced today that the tragic death of an infant, while in the care at a rural Davison County daycare, on June 19, 2012, will not result in any criminal charges. A young child in the daycare contributed to the death of the infant.

Attorney General Jackley and Davison County States Attorney Smith would like to thank the Davison County Sheriff’s Office, the Mitchell Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation for this very difficult investigation. Jackley and Smith would further like to send condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time, who were cleared of any culpability at the outset and have cooperated throughout this investigation.
