South Dakota Highway Patrol to Receive Money for Weapon Upgrades and Service Dog Equipment from Drug Control Fund

PIERRE, S.D.-    Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that the South Dakota Highway Patrol  has been awarded $215,500 for weapon upgrades, service dog equipment and additional all-purpose equipment. The money was awarded out of the Drug Control Fund. The award will assist local law enforcement in drug control and apprehension purposes.

“The South Dakota Highway Patrol is a substantial contributor to the drug control fund through the diligent work of their troopers. This award will provide necessary equipment upgrades funded by the criminals not the taxpayers to continue important drug interdiction work on our roadways,” said Jackley.

“Removing drug traffickers and their assets from South Dakota highways is taken very seriously by our troopers.  We are pleased with the Attorney General’s recognition of our efforts.  Awards from the drug control fund allow all law enforcement in South Dakota to improve our drug interdiction programs so we can best protect our citizens,” said Colonel Craig Price.
