Ft. Pierre Man Sentenced for Aggravated Assault and
Discharging Firearm at Occupied Vehicle


PIERRE, S.D  -  Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that Derek Boe, 33, Ft. Pierre, was sentenced to twenty years for aggravated assault, twenty years for discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle and five years for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. All sentences to run concurrently.

Charges stem from an incident in January 2012, where Boe shot a shotgun into a vehicle occupied by his girlfriend.   

In addition, Boe was sentenced to 5 years for attempted possession of a controlled substance, stemming from the possession of methamphetamine while out on bond in August 2012. This sentence will run consecutively to the other three sentences.
 
This case was prosecuted by the Hughes County States Attorney’s Office and assisted by the Attorney General’s Office and investigated by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
