Groton Police Department to Receive Money for Ballistic Vests

PIERRE, S.D.  – Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that the Groton Police Department has been awarded $2,396 for ballistic vests to be used in drug investigations. The money was awarded out of the Drug Control Fund. The award will assist local law enforcement in drug control and apprehension purposes.

“The Drug Control Fund was created for exactly this type of expenditure to assist law enforcement in protecting our communities from monies taken from criminal activity,” said Jackley.

“We just want to extend a thank you for making funds like these available to purchase items that will assist in the protection of our officers. It provides our officers with an additional sense of security in a profession that can be very dangerous,” said Groton Chief of Police Stacy Mayou.
