Division Director - Assistant Attorney General Paul Cremer

Background Information:

The South Dakota Medicaid Program is administered by the South Dakota Department of Social Services, servicing approximately 115,000 South Dakota residents at a total cost of $818 million. The Medicaid Program assists in providing medical services to those residents who are unable to afford necessary medical services.

The vast majority of Medical providers are honest and follow the law. However, the few who engage in fraudulent or questionable practices are costing the citizens of South Dakota.

The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) was established as a division of the Office of Attorney General in 1984 to address this problem.
