Open Meeting Commission-Pending Cases

Willow Lake School District (No. 11-05)

This complaint asserts that the Willow Lake School Board met without proper notice on two occasions in 2011 and that on a third occasion in 2001 the public was unable to attend a meeting due to locked doors.  This matter was  heard by the OMC on December 7, 2011. The OMC voted to issue a reprimand on the two occasions where no notice was posted. The OMC found that there was not a violation on the third matter since an alternate door was unlocked and did not bar the public. Written Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law were issued on March 9, 2012.

City of Aberdeen and Aberdeen Planning Council  (Nos. 11-05 and 11-06)

The Complaints in this matter assert that notice was not properly posted for four separate meetings in 2008 and 2009 in Aberdeen.  These matters were heard by the OMC on December 7. The OMC found that the City had failed to post notice to the public for one of its meetings in 2009 and that a reprimand should be issued. The OMC did not find a violation on the other three issues.  Written Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law and Reprimand were issued on March 19, 2012.
