Medicaid Fraud Control Unit

The South Dakota Medicaid Fraud Control Unit consists of an Assistant Attorney General, two investigators, an auditor, and an administrative analyst, all of whom work under the direction of the Attorney General.

Responsibilities:

• Provider Fraud
• Abuse/Neglect
• Exploitation

The MFCU works closely with all State agencies involved with the Medicaid Program:

• South Dakota Department of Social Services
  • Division of Medical Services
  • Division of Behavioral Health
• South Dakota Department of Human Services
  • Developmental Disabilities
  • Dakota at Home
  • Long Term Services and Supports
• Department of Health

The MFCU is a member of, or works with:

• The United States Attorney's Task Force on Health Care Fraud
• National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units
• US Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Inspector General
• Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
