(Pierre) – Convicted murderer Samuel Wayne Boston was sentenced to life in prison without parole today. A Custer County jury found Boston guilty on May 3, of second degree felony murder while engaged in the commission of a felony sexual contact.

“This conviction carried a mandatory sentence of life in prison,” said Attorney General Mark Barnett.

Boston was arrested in August of 2001 for the strangulation death of Richard Gitter.

Gitter’s body was found in a bathtub in Boston’s Custer apartment on March 17, 2001.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Patty Froning and Custer County State’s Attorney Tim Vander Heide.
