Law Enforcement Continues to Seek Information as One-Year Anniversary of Jackson County Death Investigation Nears

PIERRE – June 17, 2015 will mark the one-year anniversary of the discovery of Theresa M. Dashewich’s body in a culvert east of Kadoka, South Dakota.

On June 13, 2014, at approximately 10:00 p.m. Mountain Time (MT), Dashewich was observed at a Pilot Town Pump gas station in Billings, Montana. The two attached photos were taken at that location. Dashewich was wearing a gray t-shirt, navy sweatpants, white tennis shoes, and carried a duffle bag. The victim left the Pilot gas station and walked to the nearby Flying J truck stop.  It has been confirmed that Dashewich spent several hours at the Flying J between June 13-14, 2014.

Dashewich was last seen attempting to secure a ride from truckers filling up at the Flying J truck stop in Billings, Montana, at 5:03 a.m. MT on June 14, 2014. It cannot be confirmed, due to poor video quality, but an individual thought to be Dashewich was observed on video walking away from the Flying J and onto Interstate 90 (I-90) eastbound on-ramp at approximately 8:00 a.m. MT.  After this possible sighting, Dashewich was never again observed on video at the Flying J truck stop.

Dashewich’s whereabouts are unknown after her time at the Flying J truck stop on June 14, 2014, until her body was discovered on June 17, 2014, at approximately 5:00 p.m. MT on I-90 near mile marker 172 in South Dakota. It is possible that she had made earlier arrangements to ride with a truck driver at the Flying J truck stop in Billings, Montana, or made arrangements over a CB radio prior to walking away from the Flying J truck stop.

Division of Criminal Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation continue to seek information about the days and hours leading up to the death of Theresa Dashewich. If you were at the Flying J truck stop in Billings, Montana, or were on I-90 eastbound between June 13, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. MT and June 14, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. MT, and may have seen Dashewich, anyone she interacted with, or can offer any information to ascertain her whereabouts after that time, please call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
