Attorney General Jackley to Address State Attorneys General and District Attorneys on National Officer Involved Shooting Training

PIERRE, S.D.-   Attorney General Marty Jackley, as Chairman of the National Association of Attorneys General, will welcome attendees of the NAAG Conference on National Effective Protocols and Practices for Officer Involved Shootings, June 16-17, Las Vegas, NV.

“One of the most important tools to protect our officers and the public is the training that prepares our officers for the difficult situations they face. Maintaining the public’s trust once a shooting occurs further involves protocols for investigations by independent agencies, prosecution authority, transparency, and respect for the criminal and civil process,” said Jackley.

Attorney General Jackley will also moderate the panel discussion on the afternoon of June 16th.  The training topic falls within Attorney General Jackley’s Presidential Initiative, “To Protect & Serve with 21st Century Policing.” The training will focus on the topic areas relating to the handling of investigations and prosecutions for state, local and federal officer-involved shooting incidents.

Jackley has been involved with 24 Officer Involved Shooting incidents since becoming Attorney General in 2009, and several officer involved shootings as the United States Attorney for South Dakota.
