PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley, United States Attorney Ronald A. Parsons, Jr., Associated School Boards of South Dakota, School Administrators of South Dakota, South Dakota Sheriff’s Association, South Dakota Police Chiefs’ Association and the South Dakota Department of Public Safety announced today the rollout of the new component of Project Stand Up- Safe Schools.  This statewide anonymous texting program allows citizens to standup for school safety in their communities.
“As we head into a new school year, we will strive to keep schools a safe place for all,” said Jackley. “The Safe School component of Project Stand Up will assist both school officials and law enforcement to better protect our children.”
Project Stand Up is a coordinated effort amongst law enforcement officials and school districts statewide to standup for school safety in South Dakota. Texting a tip is simple- just text ‘safe’ to 82257. The tipster will be asked a series of questions for additional information. The level of involvement lies with the individual, while always remaining anonymous.
