Preliminary Hearing Held in Jackson County 

(Pierre) – Brian Hanson, of rural Haakon County was bound over on thirteen counts at the conclusion of the preliminary hearing which was held Thursday April 24, in Jackson County before Magistrate Judge Scott Myren. The complaint contained 14 counts for activities arising between January 1998 and December 2000 for alleged cattle theft including Misuse or Alternation of Brand, Theft by Transfer of Another’s Property, Theft by Deception and Receiving Stolen Property. One count was dismissed before the preliminary hearing. The charges stemmed from alleged transactions Brian Hanson and his father, Arthur Hanson had with their victims. Arthur Hanson was convicted in March for cattle theft totaling over $800,000. He was sentenced to 35 years in the state penitentiary with all but six months suspended.

Arraignment for Brian Hanson is scheduled on May 19, 2003, in Haakon County. His father’s restitution hearing will be held that same day.
