Victim's Rights

As of November 2016, victim's rights are no longer just by statute, but are also constitutional law.  South Dakota voters have passed Marsy's Law, Constitutional Amendment S, supporting victims' rights.  The Amendment received 60 percent of the vote.  For all of your constitutional rights, visit the Marsy's Law webpage for a printable Marsy's Card.  Please direct any questions that you may have about Marsy's Law and the information provided below to the prosecuting office that may be handling your case.

The SAVIN system rolled out in August 2016, and is a free, automated service that provides crime victim's with vital information and notifications 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Victims can access the SAVIN website at https://savin.sd.gov/portal/ or contact the call center at 1-844-299-4608.
