Reserve Law Enforcement Officers
A reserve law enforcement officer is a person appointed by the appointing authority of a law enforcement agency to supplement and support, without supplanting, law enforcement officers of that agency as a member of a reserve law enforcement officer unit, and who acts in that capacity without compensation except in an emergency, or as permitted by 2:01:07:03 and 2:01:07:03.01.
Reserve officers must meet the same minimum standards as a certified law enforcement officers, as set forth in chapter 2:01:02.
A reserve officer appointed by an appointing authority has one year from the date of appointment to obtain certification from the commission as a reserve law enforcement official.
Newly appointed reserve officer must submit the LES Application along with two fingerprint cards to Law Enforcement Training.
