Jury Returns Verdict in Bon Homme County Arson Case

Jury Returns Verdict in Bon Homme County Arson Case

 

PIERRE, S.D –    Attorney General Marty Jackley and Bon Homme County State’s Attorney Lisa Rothschadl announced today that a Bon Homme County jury has returned a verdict in the Bon Homme County arson case. Both Charles Mark Johnson, 62, Springfield and Kimberly Sue Johnson, 56, Springfield, were found guilty of second degree arson and reckless burning, both class 4 felonies.  Maximum sentence for both charges is 10 years in the state penitentiary and or $20,000 fine. 

Charges stemmed from an October 7, 2010, fire in Libby's Steak House in Springfield, South Dakota.

This case was investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation and ATF, prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Bon Homme County States Attorney. 

Sentencing is schedules for August 7, 2013 in Bon Homme County.
