Attorney General’s Office to Review Officer Involved Shooting in Sioux Falls

 
PIERRE, S.D  -  Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that the Division of Criminal Investigation, at the request of the South Falls Police Department, is investigating the officer involved shooting that occurred October 14, 2013.  The suspect, Jacob Daniel Westberg, 22, Sioux Falls, has died of a gunshot wound.     
The Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a call to service at a Sioux Falls residence. The incident escalated and resulted in a Sioux Falls Police Officer shooting the suspect.
 
At the completion of the investigation, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation will issue a case report and shooting summation to be reviewed by the Attorney General for a final determination on the officers’ action.  The release of the summary report is anticipated within 30 days.
