Long Speaks at D.A.R.E. Graduation
(Pierre) – Sioux Fall’s Anne Sullivan Elementary School will receive a visit from one of the state’s best known attorneys.
Chief Deputy Attorney General Larry Long will be the featured speaker at the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) graduation at Anne Sullivan. The ceremony will be held in the school at 1:30pm on Monday, May 20.
The program will graduate 112 5th graders from four different classrooms. The graduates participated in a 17 week course instructed by Division of Criminal Investigation Agent Dave Stephan. Stephan met with the classes once a week. The course included lessons on the consequences of using drugs, drug resistance, and self-esteem improvement. The program also brought in role models to teach the 5th graders about positive alternatives to using drugs and alcohol.
The D.A.R.E. program has been active in South Dakota since 1988.
