Attorney General’s Office Releases Officer Involved Shooting Summary

PIERRE, S.D  - Attorney General Marty Jackley and the Division of Criminal Investigation today released the summary into the shooting of Jacob Daniel Westberg, 22, on October 14, 2013, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Division of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation at the request of the Sioux Falls Police Department.

The incident occurred on October 14, 2013, when a call to service to a Sioux Falls residence escalated to a standoff with law enforcement. “It is the conclusion of this investigation and the Attorney General that the officer was justified in firing his weapon and using lethal force,” stated Attorney General Jackley. “I would like to thank the Sioux Falls Police Department, the officers involved and the witnesses for their complete cooperation in this investigation.”
