Energy Summit Hosted by Conference of Western Attorneys General

 
PIERRE, S.D – Attorney General Marty Jackley, who serves as the Chairman of the Conference of Western Attorneys General announces the Energy Summit to be hosted by the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) and facilitated by the Energy Independence Coalition (EIC).  The Energy Summit will gather Attorneys General, regulators and oil and gas stakeholders in Denver, Colorado, on April 15-16 to address prospective environmental regulatory challenges arising from enhanced oil and gas recovery through directional drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Attorney General Jackley will moderate the Litigation Update panel identifying legal actions which impact the energy industry and serve as guidance to state and local regulators.

New technological advancements require explanation and acceptance by communities and governmental regulatory bodies. The main goal of the Energy Summit is to understand the legal dialogue surrounding energy issues with current and upcoming legislation and regulation slated for consideration throughout the United States; the individuals and institutions with responsibility for the legal clarification of State interests and rights; reconciling energy resource production needs, property rights and environmental concerns; and the appropriate legal channels for responses and dispute resolution of these issues.
