Attorney General Jackley Urges eBay Customers to Review their Accounts and
Change Passwords Immediately
PIERRE, S.D – Attorney General Marty Jackley is warning South Dakota consumers to review their eBay account information for any suspicious activity in response to the massive data breach.
According to eBay, the company has determined a data breach has occurred including customer names, account passwords, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers and birth dates.
"Consumers need to take the time and review their eBay accounts and consider changing their passwords immediately," said Jackley. "It is unclear at this time how many of the 148 million accounts were affected, but consumers should be proactive and not wait for confirmation.”
Consumers should monitor their eBay accounts for any unauthorized activity and anything suspicious should be reported to the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division at 1-800-300-1986 or consumerhelp@state.sd.us.
