Attorney General Jackley Chairs Conference of Western Attorneys General Annual Meeting
The Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) are discussing major topics of interest to the western states at their annual meeting in Utah this week. Attorney General Jackley opened the conference with welcoming remarks emphasizing the significant legal issues facing our western states and the importance of working together to protect common state interests.
The agenda items that the Attorneys General are examining include environmental protection and economic recovery, marijuana legalization and public safety, drug overdose prevention, privacy and data breaches, consumer protection, XL pipeline, Indian law developments, and human trafficking. The meeting includes an exchange between the State Attorneys General and their counterpart Mexican Attorneys General on crimes such as human trafficking, drug and weapon trafficking, money laundering, and internet crimes against children that transcend international borders requiring ongoing cooperation between state and federal authorities in Mexico and the United States.
