Mitchell Officer Involved Shooting Summary Released

 
PIERRE, S.D – Attorney General Marty Jackley and the Division of Criminal Investigation today released the summary into the shooting of Joy Ann Sherman on November 8, 2014, in Mitchell, South Dakota.

The Division of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation at the request of the Mitchell Police Department.

The incident occurred on November 8, 2014, following a call to service to a Mitchell hotel. “It is the conclusion of this report and the Attorney General that Sgt. David Beintema was justified in firing his weapon and using lethal force,” stated Attorney General Jackley.

The Attorney General would like to thank the Mitchell Police Department and the Officers for their service and complete cooperation in this investigation, and his condolences to the family of Ms. Sherman.
