Beresford Officer Involved Shooting Summary Released

PIERRE, S.D.  – Attorney General Marty Jackley and the Division of Criminal Investigation today released the summary into the shooting of Christopher Heuer on January 15, 2015, in Beresford, South Dakota.

The Division of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation at the request of the Beresford Police Department.

The incident occurred on January, 15, 2015, following a call to service to a Beresford residence. “It is the conclusion of this report and the Attorney General that Sergeant Dave Steckelberg was justified in firing his weapon and using lethal force. I would like to thank the Beresford Police Department and the Officers for their service and complete cooperation in this investigation,” stated Attorney General Jackley.
