South Dakota to Receive $128,000 in Settlement

(Pierre) – Attorney General Elect Larry Long announces that the State of South Dakota will receive in excess of $128,000 in an antitrust settlement previously entered into by the South Dakota Attorney General's Office and other states against Mylan Laboratories, Inc. and other drug manufacturers. The states filed a complaint alleging violations of state and federal antitrust laws in conjunction with the manufacture and sale of two psychotropic medications, Lorazepam and Clorazepate. The money is to go to the South Dakota Council of Community Mental Health Centers, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, which is comprised of the state's eleven community mental health centers. "I am pleased to be able to provide the community mental health centers with this additional money given these financially troubled times," said Long. In addition to the money sent to the South Dakota Council of Community Mental Health Centers, Inc., as part of the antitrust settlement, additional monies have been distributed to the State of South Dakota and consumers who purchased these drugs.
