Jansen Pleads Guilty to Two Counts of First Degree Rape


PIERRE – Attorney General Marty Jackley and Hughes County State’s Attorney Wendy Kloeppner announced today that Christopher R. Jansen, 35, Selby has entered a guilty plea to two counts of rape in the first degree, class C felonies. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of up to life in state penitentiary and/ or a $50,000 fine. Each count of rape in the first degree also requires a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in the state penitentiary.
 
Charges stem from several incidents over a four year period at a residence in Hughes County and involved three children, whose ages ranged from 5 to 13.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 25, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Hughes County.

This case was investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and Mobridge Police Department.  The case is being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Hughes County State’s Attorney.
