Brende Sentenced for Child Pornography

(Pierre) –Justin Douglas Brende, Mitchell, will spend six months in the Davison County Jail and will pay a $4,000 fine.

Today Judge Ronald Miller sentenced Brende, 22, to 20 years in prison for possession of child pornography. That sentence was suspended on conditions that include Brende spends six months in the county jail, that he completes sexual offender counseling and that he has no contact with children under the age of 18. Brende was immediately remanded into the custody of Davison County authorities.

Brende was arrested in July after an investigation conducted by the Mitchell Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation uncovered numerous images of child pornography on his computer. A tip from an informant led to that investigation.

In September, Brende pled guilty to four counts of possession of child pornography and agreed to undergo a psychosexual evaluation.

The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office and Davison County State’s Attorney Pat Smith are prosecuting the case.
