Turney pled guilty to first degree manslaughter in January 2016. On September 4, 2015, Turney stabbed and killed Shields during an argument. In an effort to conceal her crime, Turney disposed of Shield’s body on the Crow Creek Reservation. His body was recovered on Monday, September 7, 2015.This case was investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Lyman County States Attorney.
