Pennington County States Attorney Mark Vargo Honored by State’s Attorneys Association and States Attorney Officers Elected
PIERRE, S.D. The South Dakota State’s Attorneys Association honors Pennington County States Attorney Mark Vargo as Prosecutor of the Year.
The Prosecutor of the Year award, established in 2002, is given annually to an outstanding South Dakota prosecutor. Association President Minnehaha County States Attorney Aaron McGowan and Attorney General Marty Jackley presented the recipient with his awards at the Annual Meeting of the Association held in Deadwood on May 5-6, 2016.
“Mark selflessly dedicates himself to the prosecution of crimes in Pennington County, while providing a strong voice for victims of violent crime,” said Jackley. “I want to congratulate Jerry Miller as incoming President, John Fitzgerald as incoming Vice President, and the executive board members for their leadership and commitment to public safety.”
Union County States Attorney Jerry Miller was elected President of the South Dakota State’s Attorneys Association and Lawrence County States Attorney John Fitzgerald was elected as Vice-President. Other board members include: Vic Fischbach (Spink County), Dave Natvig (Brule County), Ryan Sage (Minnehaha County), Mark Reedstrom (Grant County), Shane Penfield (Perkins County), Chris White (Brown County), Alvin Pahlke (Tripp County) and Laura Retzel (Pennington County).
