Government Openness Task Force to Hold Third Meeting

(Pierre) – Attorney General Larry Long announced today that the third meeting of the Government Openness Task Force will be held in Pierre on Friday, January 31 at noon. The meeting will be at the Capitol Lake Visitor Center near the State Capitol and is open to the public.

During previous meetings, the Government Openness Task Force heard comments from members of the committee and the public regarding the current scope of South Dakota's open records and open meeting laws.  

Long said the task force members will continue to examine issues pertaining to the current South Dakota laws and identify the various ways in which the issues can be addressed.  Further, the task force will continue to examine open records laws from other states, including those who have developed provisions dealing with electronic access to state and local records.
