National Police Week Events Scheduled

PIERRE, S.D.-   Attorney General Marty Jackley would like to ask South Dakotans to take a moment to reflect on the contributions that police officers make to our communities and to honor those officers who have been lost in the line of duty.  National Police Week is set aside each May to pay special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.  
"Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to make South Dakota a safe place to live,” said Jackley.  “Please, take time this week to thank your local officers and their families for their sacrifices and commitment to your community.”  
Scheduled Events:
Wednesday, May 18- Wreath Laying Ceremony, Capitol Lake Monument beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by motorcade from George S. Mickelson Building to memorial service at Church of Christ located at 323 North Madison Avenue, Pierre, S.D. The public and media are welcome to attend.  
Thursday, May 19- Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner- Strawbale Winery, 47215 Street, Renner, S.D. The public and media are welcome to attend.
