Redfield Man Sentenced for Vehicular Homicide
(Pierre) – On Wednesday, Gerald Neu of Redfield was sentenced to 10 years for vehicular homicide in the death of John Knott of Lebanon, SD. Judge Larry Lovrien of Aberdeen entered a suspended sentence on multiple conditions including jail time, restitution, and a 10 year restrictive probation. The collision occurred in April of last year, on South Dakota highway 20 near Chelsea. Neu had been drinking alcohol sometime prior to crossing the highway centerline and striking the Knott vehicle. The deceased’s wife, Verna Knott, was a passenger in his vehicle and also suffered injuries. Neu is currently incarcerated at the Faulk County jail.
