Bon Homme County Man Convicted by Jury for Rape and Sexual Contact with a Minor

PIERRE, S.D.  –   Attorney General Marty Jackley and Bon Homme County States Attorney Lisa Rothschadl announced today that a Bon Homme County jury returned a verdict finding Paul Michael Brewer, 41, Tabor, guilty of 3 counts of rape in the first degree, class C felony, punishable by up to life imprisonment and/or $50,000 fine and 2 counts sexual contact with a child under the age of 16, class 3 felony, punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment and/or a $30,000 fine.

“This conviction involves very serious offenses against a child. Child sexual abuse cases, by their very nature, present challenges for prosecutors, investigators and juries and they should be commended for their important and tireless work,” said Jackley.

Charges stem from incidents that occurred between December 4, 2015 and May 12, 2016 at Brewer’s place of residence.

This case was investigated by the Bon Homme County Sheriff’s Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation and was prosecuted by the Bon Homme County States Attorney and the  Attorney General’s Office.

A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
