Charles Mix County Death Investigation Preliminary Autopsy Results Released

PIERRE, S.D.  –Attorney General Marty Jackley and Charles Mix County Sheriff Randy Thaler advised today that preliminary autopsy results are complete in the investigation into the death of Janet Strickland-Collins, 66, Platte. Ms. Strickland-Collins was found deceased on July 7, 2017, in her residence. Preliminary autopsy results indicate the cause and manner of death was accidental due to exsanguination or blood loss and laceration to shin and other underlying health related issues.
“The preliminary autopsy results of accidental death are consistent with the investigation and there is no further evidence of any danger in the community. Ms. Strickland-Collins’ family members remain in our thoughts during this difficult time,” said Jackley.
Agencies assisting in this investigation are the Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office, Platte Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
