PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley and the Division of Criminal Investigation today released the summary into the shooting of Joseph Hogan, on June 17, 2017, in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The incident occurred on June 17, after the Rapid City PD was called to service on a report that a man outside a residence located at 310 Viking Drive, Rapid City, was discharging firearms.
“It is my conclusion as Attorney General that Officer Derek Uebel was justified in firing his weapon and using lethal force in order to protect him and other officers. I would like to thank the Rapid City Police Department and Officer Uebel for their service and complete cooperation in this investigation and extend my condolences to the family of Joseph Hogan,” stated Attorney General Jackley.
