PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that Amy Schmidt, 37, Aberdeen, pled to one count of grand theft, class 5 felony, punishable by up to 5 years in the state penitentiary and/or $10,000 fine.
Charges stem from Schmidt’s employment at a home health agency that cared for the elderly.
A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
This case was investigated by the Aberdeen Police Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by the Elder Abuse and Financial Exploitation Subdivision of the Attorney General’s Office
