The Division of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation at the request of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on September 23, when law enforcement responded to a call to service at a Sioux Falls residence, when the situation escalated resulting in the deputy firing a duty weapon at the subject.
“It is my conclusion as Attorney General that Deputy Taylor Court was justified in firing his weapon and using lethal force. I would like to thank the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and the Deputy for their service and complete cooperation in this investigation,” stated Attorney General Jackley.
