PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley and the Division of Criminal Investigation today released the summary into the shooting of Christopher Scott Sanftleben, on September 23, 2017, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Division of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation at the request of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on September 23, when law enforcement responded to a call to service at a Sioux Falls residence, when the situation escalated resulting in the deputy firing a duty weapon at the subject.
“It is my conclusion as Attorney General that Deputy Taylor Court was justified in firing his weapon and using lethal force. I would like to thank the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and the Deputy for their service and complete cooperation in this investigation,” stated Attorney General Jackley.
