PIERRE, S.D. - Attorney General Marty Jackley and Bennett County States Attorney Sarah Harris confirm today that Daniel Ceplecha, 57, Martin and Rangler Ceplecha, 23, Martin, have each pled guilty to one count manslaughter in the first degree, Class C felony, punishable by punishable by life in prison and/or $50,000 fine.

Charges stem from an incident at Daniel Ceplecha’s residence in Martin that resulted in Daniel Ceplecha and Rangler Ceplecha shooting and killing Moses Red Bear. 

Sentencing has been scheduled for June 6, 2018 in Bennett County. 

This case was investigated by the Martin Police Department and Division of Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by the Bennett County States Attorney and the Attorney General’s Office.
