PIERRE, S.D. - Today, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced his support for the Trump administration’s lawsuit challenging the state of California’s unconstitutional sanctuary laws.
“We are a nation of laws, and the Justice Department’s lawsuit aims to protect the Constitution against the unlawful immigration agenda of the state of California,” Jackley said. “Attorney General Sessions has my support in addressing California’s deliberate violation of federal law on sanctuary cities.”
Jackley has consistently opposed sanctuary laws that prevent cooperation with law enforcement and said the Justice Department’s legal action is a step in the right direction.
“It remains my hope that Congress will act to fix our broken immigration system to address workforce and public safety concerns,” Jackley said.
