PIERRE, S.D. -  Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that State Penitentiary inmate Wade Myers Standing Bear Jr., 26, was sentenced today for simple assault against a law enforcement officer. 

Standing Bear Jr. was sentenced to 25 years, with 10 suspended, which will run consecutive to his current sentence.  On April 22, 2017, Standing Bear Jr. threw boiling water on two correctional officers.  

This case was investigated by Special Security at the State Penitentiary and the Division of Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
