PIERRE, S.D. - Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that Luis Alberto Maaz, 26, Britton, was sentenced earlier this week for 4th degree rape and solicitation of a minor, and was sentenced to 10 years with 5 suspended on each count. These sentences will run concurrent.
“This case involved multiple defendants sexually abusing the same juvenile victim,” said Jackley. “Law enforcement worked tirelessly to identify those that had perpetrated the victim and the prosecutors are now bringing closure to this case. Our thoughts remain with the victim and the family as the process continues.”
The other defendants in this case, Damon Daniel Koop, Michael Joseph Mejilla, Dustin Michael Purcell and Edgar Adoneas Ramos are scheduled to be sentenced in May.
This case was investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by the Marshall County States Attorney and the Attorney General’s Office.
