Marshall County Men Sentenced in Sexual Abuse Case

PIERRE, S.D. - Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that two more defendants in the Marshall County sexual abuse case have been sentenced.

Edgar Adoneas Ramos, 28, Britton, was sentenced to 10 years with 5 suspended on one count of 4th degree rape and 10 years and 5 suspended on one count of solicitation of a minor. These sentences will run concurrent. 

Damon Daniel Koop, 21, Britton, was sentenced to 10 years with 10 suspended upon the condition that he successfully completes 6 years of probation. He was also ordered to serve 90 days county jail with credit for 5 days served. 

 “This case involved multiple defendants sexually abusing the same juvenile victim,” said Jackley. “Law enforcement worked tirelessly to identify and hold accountable those that had perpetrated the victim. Our thoughts remain with the victim and the victim’s family.”  

The other two remaining defendants in this case, Michael Joseph Mejilla and Dustin Michael Purcell, are still awaiting sentencing.   

This case was investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by the Marshall County States Attorney and the Attorney General’s Office.
